VT Family Matters
Looking to improve your family's communication?
Is stress affecting your family relationships?
Wish your family was better at supporting each other?
Vermont Family Matters (VFM) is an extension of the Vermont Head Start programs. We provide resources and tools to strengthen parent relationships and create a nurturing environment for children. We help families build valuable skills to:
- Have healthy and supportive relationships
- Decrease conflict in the home
- Establish trust and closeness within the family
- Strengthen communication skills
- Gain awareness of relationship dynamics
- Develop positive support networks
Participants attend an interactive parents' weekend to learn relationship skills and connect with other parents. Then, VFM offers regularly scheduled workshops, access to education, support services, counseling and other community resources in local communities.
Who is Eligible? Open to families throughout the state who are enrolled in Head Start or are Head Start eligible. Single parents and co-parenting individuals, married and unmarried couples, couples considering marriage or civil unions and blended families are all welcome.
