HS_mom_and_infantCVCAC's Head Start provides early education and child care services to pregnant women and families with children aged birth to five years. Pregnant women and families with infants and toddlers (ages birth to three) are served through Early Head Start.

Our staff help you identify your family goals and then help you find the resources you need to achieve success. We connect you with quality programs and services at no cost to you:

  • Early childhood education
  • Parent education and training
  • Family health and nutrition resources
  • Access to physical and mental health services
  • Family literacy activities
  • Parent leadership opportunities
  • Service coordination for children with disabilities
  • Recreational outings with other families
  • And much more!

Head Start offers services to families in a variety of ways:

In your home - trained home visitor works with you and your child on a weekly basis.

In preschool classrooms - We partner with local elementary schools to offer part day preschool in concert with a home visiting program.

In our own child care centers - We operate two licensed child care centers for children who need full-time care while their parents are at work or in school.

Head Start is for the whole family. Your involvement, as a parent, plays a big part in shaping your child's future. We support parents in achieving their own goals by providing leadership opportunities, trainings, information and referrals.

Who is eligible? Pregnant women and families with children aged birth to 5 years in Washington, Lamoille and Orange Counties. Eligibility is based on income, receipt of public assistance, supplemental security income (SSI), or foster care. Children with disabilities are always welcome.

We will help you to identify specific transportation services offered in the community.
